Magic Squares- 6/8/96

Magic Squares: A Recipe for My Youngest Girl

Two scoops of dreams sifted  well with wishes,

Lots of sugar blended in with the kisses.

A heart and soul of mine thrown in,

Baked to perfection is how to begin.

These things are kept in the cupboard for now,

And with my help you’ll discover how.

Some day you’ll know that your father cares,

Teaching your little girl to make her own magic squares.

Seasons of a Life

Seasons and Changes….ov wjj 110211

——————————————————

I borrowed time to watch the seasons change this year,

It all seemed so strange to me….

Was it filled with things I’d never seen,

The rain, the clouds or the breeze?

They had always been right there I thought

How is it they are changed this time?

Overlooked, I guess, in such a rush I missed some things

Like snow and wind and warm sunshine…..

From in the yard a small Wren has made

A nest in a corner of the barn.

I must have seen that nest before

But then, there was no cause for such a big alarm.

I’ve focused on so many things my blur in life is great

The fruit of working hard and fast, is finding things would always wait……

Something has slowed my step I think, the children are growing so.

My sense of time has changed inside and the clock is ticking on……

All things in life seem wondrous now,

Especially through this aged clear glass,

But know me well, I have value most,

For my best seasons, those yet, have come to pass.
